What if I do nothing?

The unfortunate truth is that many orthodontic problems such as crowded teeth, gappy teeth or a bad bite, if left undetected or untreated, may become worse. Crowded or spaced teeth can get worse with age and become very difficult to keep clean, which may result in tooth decay and gum disease, leading to early loss of teeth. An incorrect bite can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, damage to the supporting tissues of the teeth, receding gum, inefficient chewing, and jaw aches and pains. Treatment to correct minor orthodontic issues are often less costly than the additional dental care required to treat more serious problems that can develop in later years.
